DESCRIPTION
For this excursion to Lobos Island we use our semi-rigid boat. We leave from our base port in Corralejo (Fuerteventura), and cross the stretch of sea that separates us from the islet —El Río—, until we reach the interior lagoons in the south of Lobos Island.
Once there, we will disembark at the pier, so that our clients can enjoy the islet, exploring its paths or resting in the calm waters of La Concha beach.
At the scheduled time we will begin the return trip from El Muelle to our base port in Corralejo.
We recommend that you do not miss snorkelling in this Natural Park, where you will be able to enjoy a great marine fauna and crystal-clear waters.
Permission to access Lobos Island.
The tour does NOT include the access permit to Lobos Island. This official authorization is free but you must arrange it on your own.
Natural pools in which you will not hesitate to swim, emerald colours in the white sand lagoons and crystal-clear waters, a place to walk to the old lighthouse. Lobos is a paradise island, a small islet of about 4.5 km² located northeast of the island of Fuerteventura. Separated by the Bocaina Strait, whose depth does not exceed 30 metres. The island can be clearly seen from Corralejo. Its name is due to the fact that in the past the island was inhabited by monk seals or Mediterranean friar seals (also known as sea lions), now in danger of extinction. The fishermen eliminated the species, as they thought that its voracity reduced the marine resources of the area. Each of these animals needs between 30 and 40 kg of fish per day.
Efforts are being made to reintroduce sea lions, despite the refusal of fishermen. Playa de la Concha in Lobos. It is protected and forms part of the Islote de Lobos Natural Park. It is home to more than 130 plant species and several bird species, including the herring gull, the great bustard (at certain times of the year) and the Cory's shearwater. The seabed is an underwater reserve area and contains great ecological wealth. Its highest point is at La Caldera, at 127 m.
